Meditation is an act of creativity
The only meditation style I ever studied quickly became the exact right fit for me, because it is a creative style.
My first meditation class helped me become conscious of energy, which I already knew about on some level, but it didn’t feel quite real to me. Maybe that was because I had no idea how to work with energy consciously.
Your imagination is how you make things real
What you can imagine is real.
Every single human made creation you can think of started with someone’s imagination.
One of the most important abilities any of us has is the ability to imagine, visualize, and dream. We each literally make stuff up, every day of our lives.
Color and Clairvoyance: ways of seeing
As an artist, clairvoyant, healer, and human being, I’m in love with color.
I’m a little bit obsessed with color, which works well for me as an abstract painter and clairvoyant. I feel color, and even when I’m not painting or reading energy, I’m thinking of color. Ideas for colors to mix, experiment and work with in a painting show up all the time. I have my purple, blue, green, red, pink, yellow, orange … days. I see and feel the vibration I want, and I’m off on a new color adventure for a bit. I have complete permission to change this any time I like, I can shift gears and move from one color to another easily.
Why human creativity matters now more than ever before
Nothing outside of you can replace your unique and creative human spirit.
Especially when you care for it, feed it, and give it room to play, your creative spirit will reward you time and time again with a deepening knowing, trust, and certainty. One of the things I’ve learned from being an artist is that I can trust that I’ll find my way to the next steps or an answer in my creative process, because even in the darkest of times I’ve done so before. I know that if I show up, I’ll get there eventually.
Please make your art, you’re giving to us all
Even if you and I never meet or see each other’s creations, we give to each other when we create something from within ourselves.
You don’t have to call yourself an artist, or want to be one, in order to make your art.
Nobody else has to see or validate that you made something, it can be your own personal creation.
Your spirit is an artist
The spirit of you has always been available for you in your life, even when you thought you were all alone.
Every time you took the time to really listen and check in with yourself, you could find this powerful part of you - your truest self - waiting and ready to assist you. If you already have a meditation practice, you’ve experienced how meditating helps you quiet down within yourself, so that you can hear your own wisdom.
Look for yourself in order to see
As an art student many years ago, I practiced the art of learning to see in a whole new way.
In my studio art classes, I learned how to use a view finder, which is basically a piece of paper with a hole cut out in it. It can be any size, small or large. You look through the hole that you cut, and the frame around the hole blocks out anything that isn’t what you are looking at. This helps you focus and see more clearly, maybe even discover new things or compositions you hadn’t seen or considered yet.
What can you create when you say yes?
Today is a great day to begin a new practice: say yes.
Especially if you have an automatic habit of saying no, start to say yes instead.
Your ‘yes’ welcomes new experiences and opportunities into your life. New people come along with those new experiences. Fresh points of view help you to break out of old tired routines.
Follow your heart and you won’t be lost
If you follow your heart, you won't be walking on anyone else’s beaten path.
Even though you may feel lost from time to time, you can't lose your way if you're making your own path. Your path won’t exist until you create it, and it's yours alone to find. So who's to say you're lost? You're discovering your path, and when you're on a journey there is no lost, only discovery.
Anyone who judges you for doing it the wrong way isn't paying attention to their own path. Like an explorer charting wild and unknown territory, when you follow your heart you have the opportunity to discover the secrets you have hidden deep within.
Creating consciously begins with your focus
You may not fully appreciate how much value there is in your focus, in what you pay attention to.
For one thing, the simple act of putting your attention onto something helps to change that thing. Your attention, your focus on a thing shifts the energy of that thing. This is called the observer effect. According to Wikipedia: “In science, the term observer effect means that the act of observing will influence the phenomenon being observed.”
When you focus consciously on something, you have an effect on it. This is because where you put your focus is where you put your energy.
Are you using your imagination?
A child creates new realities through the art of play.
While spending long hours in her imagination, she invents never-before-heard-of scenarios, making up fantastic characters and universes as she goes. If a child is given toys that allow him to make it up as he goes along, so much the better. Whole worlds have been constructed with the sticks, stones, and mud found in the backyard.
A neighbor’s garden becomes a fairyland, and a scary tree is haunted. Children don’t need a lot of stuff to create, just some unscheduled time, space, and their imaginations will do.
You create your world
Earth is your home.
This is your world, and it also belongs to every other being on it, (yes, even the mosquitoes). The earth is endlessly bountiful, generously providing us all with enough riches to support a whole world full of living beings.
You have the right to be here. Everything you have is made from the earth; your cell phone, shoes, food supply, car, books, computer, money. Everything we needed to grow, evolve, heal, and entertain ourselves, was already here.
